The BMW X7 iPerformance Concept was presented by the German manufacturer at the IAA Cars 2017 show in Frankfurt. The BMW X7 iPerformance Concept gives us a sense of what the future of the large-scale SAV will be for the luxury segment.
The very generous interior has been designed for six people and is finished with the highest quality materials. Here is also the latest infotainment system with connectivity function. The term iPerformance suggests the presence of revolutionary BMW eDrive technology supplemented by a BMW Twin Turbo gasoline engine. Effective and dynamic hybrid propulsion will excel in all driving situations. The concept provides a perspective on the future production model, which will have its debut in 2018. The BMW X7 is the biggest step in the company’s history as part of the Number One Next strategy.
The SAV aims to increase sales in the luxury segment. In 1999, with the introduction of the X5, BMW set up the Sport Activity Vehicle segment. The BMW X7 iPerformance Concept continues this tradition with a new top-of-the-line X model. The new SAV redefines the concept of luxury and demonstrates that a car of this size can also be driven electrically. The exterior is spectacular, imposing and sophisticated. The luxurious character of the new BMW X7 iPerformance Concept is highlighted by its interior. Both the driver and the passengers will enjoy a very generous space. Digital connectivity will provide occupants with access to social networks, movies or any other form of entertainment. Warm colors and top quality materials combine to create an exclusive and sophisticated ambience.

The entire ceiling is panoramic and accentuates the extremely pleasant interior feeling. The seats for the six passengers are arranged on three rows. The BMW X7 iPerformance Concept offers seats with individual design to the occupants. This gives the rear passengers a very generous foot space. The two-color leather upholstery enhances contemporary high-class ambience. Matte and glossy aluminum inserts along with ambient lighting outline the luxury of the interior. The surface of the dashboard and the high seating position provide exceptional road visibility. The 12.3-inch tool cluster screen and the central console touch display are located close to each other. The effect is smart and sophisticated.
The BMW X7 iPerformance Concept introduces a new mode of operation that allows the two displays to be used interactively. The controls on the center console have a minimalist approach. The crystal components highlight the transmission lever, the iDrive controller and the multifunction steering wheel buttons. Second-row passengers enjoy the comfort of personalized infotainment, thanks to the touch screen monitors of the entertainment system. Thus, the BMW X7 iPerformance Concept presents the German manufacturer’s vision of integrating customers into the digital world. Passengers have access to all the digital services that make their journey more comfortable, fun, or more productive. The stylish exterior and considerable ground clearance clearly identify the car as an X model. The design features clearly differentiate it from the previous models.

The front of the new BMW X7 iPerformance Concept receives a completely new interpretation of the classic elements we have become accustomed to. The one-piece front grille draws attention due to its generous dimensions. The narrow headlamps feature the X-ray signature with laser light. The outside air intakes are framed by a protruding bar that extends over the entire width of the front. Chromed exterior elements create a precise geometric impression and give the machine a robust feeling of solidity. The exterior color Manhattan Metallic highlights the sophisticated body design. The BMW X7 iPerformance Concept comes with 23-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels. The Y-shaped support structure of the transparent ceiling is also a new design element. The impressive body size is also seen when the car is viewed from the rear.
The thin tail lights create a three-dimensional shape like the letter L and are connected by a chrome bar. At the rear, the new BMW X7 iPerformance Concept does not feature exhaust pipes. This makes it clear that there will also be a completely electric variant of the charismatic car. At the moment, the German manufacturer has not made public any details about the engine or the battery range. In the future, the new BMW 8 Series, the new BMW X7, the BMW i8 and the new BMW i8 Roadster will join the BMW 7 Series in the luxury segment of the brand. These models will benefit from a new logo, giving up the blue hue and becoming black and white. Instead of the BMW letters, the new logo will show the company’s full name – Bayerische Motoren Werke.
